Travelling to School

We encourage as many students as possible to walk or cycle to school. These methods can improve overall fitness levels in children and adults. It is a cheap low impact way to exercise. Getting active in our daily lives can have a big impact on a number of health issues.

We realise that some parents/carers have no alternative but to drive their children to school, however, many are driving short distances where walking or cycling is a real option. Even those who have to drive to school can do their bit by parking away from the school entrance and walking for part of the journey.

Please can we remind you not to do the following:

  • Park on yellow lines, zig zags or block the school entrance
  • Park on the pavement, across dropped kerbs or residents’ driveways
  • Park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction
  • Park where you will cause inconvenience to other road users
  • Leave your vehicle with the engine still running
  • Stop in the middle of the road to drop your child off, even for a few seconds. Block the road emergency vehicles and other traffic may need to access

Greenwood Bus Service: Private Bus Service to and from Verulam School

Bricket Wood, Park Street, How Wood, Chiswell Green, and the Verulam Estate.

The bus stops at a number of dedicated points along the route.  Bus times in the morning reflect the journey time and school start time.  Pick up in the morning is from 07:35 onwards.  Return times are such that pupils are dropped off between 15:50 and 16:25 depending on stop.

Fares

Fares vary term to term depending on term duration; the fare can be paid in one payment to cover the whole term or in two equal payments, half a term apart.  Other arrangements are available upon request.

Payment

At the end of each term a letter is sent out detailing the following term’s fees and payment details.  There is also a deadline date; places are only secure up to the deadline date.  Places are offered on a first come, first served basis once the deadline has passed.

Greenwood Bus Service operates a strict bus pass service only.

Application to use the bus

Once you have a confirmed place at Verulam School and wish to use the bus service, please register your details by email on greenwoodbusservice@gmail.com
